Little G Crew is here! The delivery went well, we are back at home in our new house and we are LOVING our new baby. Mia and Tanner want to hold him and kiss him every second. No signs of jealousy yet... but I am crossing my fingers that Tanner will not freak out at the new addition. Gavin is sleeping and eating like a champ- we really couldn't be happier! Life with three children is going to be a challenge, but I am so happy to have a healthy baby boy.

I Know... I'ts Been Forever!

But cut me some slack, I'm pregnant with baby number 3. It's a boy! Woohoo! And I have been absolutely exhausted. A three year old and a two year old are hard enough... add morning sickness, fatigue and a large uncomfortable belly and it will keep you in survival mode for awhile. So much has been going on in the past few months I can hardly believe I have survived.

Here's the update:

Tanner turned two, and he is a little monster that needs to be caged! He is into everything! But I can never get mad at his cute face! Every time he gets into trouble he says, "sorry mama" and I just want to kiss him.

He loves:

-exploring in the backyard
- getting dirty
- playing in the sand box
- apple juice
- swimming
- reading books over and over again
- pushing Mia around
- Mickey Mouse
- pulling Mia's bows out of her hair
- giving lots of hugs and kisses
- building towers (and of course, knocking them over)
- cars and trains

Mia is three, going on 25. She has become my little helper and she loves every second of it. She loves to be in charge and have jobs to complete. Recently she has been helping me sew a quilt for the baby. She begs to sew with me everytime we get a spare minute.

She Loves:

- baking cupcakes (decorating with sprinkles is a must)

- anything princess

- playing games on the computer

- apple juice

- taking toys from Tanner

- dressing her dolls

- putting scotch tape on everything

- swimming

- preschool

- Lunchables

- picking out her own clothes

- going shopping for fabric

- painting her nails

- making designs with wooden shapes

We went to Disneyland one last time before I got too big.

And we bought a HOUSE!! That deserves a big YAY!

Mia loves to play soccer outside and begs us to be on a soccer team. We just can't find one for little girls her age! Tanner has been an early bird lately and his first words when he wakes up are "juice" and "popcle".

Sick Once Again

So, we are all sick again. We have been sick for like 2 weeks. And oddly enough we all have something different. Poor Trenton has a bronchitis and coughs non-stop. Mia is recovering from an ear infection and a cold. Tanner just got over pink eye (weird) and two ear infections. Now I have laryngitis. Four antibiotics later we are trying to get healthy again. We were doing so well! We hadn't been sick in months! I have never had laryngitis. I know it sounds lame but I am in some serious pain. My throat throbs at night and I can't sleep. It's about the same amount of pain as strep throat (I know I have had that many times). After I got my tonsils removed I thought I wouldn't have to deal with this kind of nonsense, but here I am... trying to drink some water and wincing with every swallow. Bummer.

At about 4:00 am Mia woke up and decided that she not only wanted, but NEEDED to watch a movie. What the? She threw a really big fit and I was very persistant for about 20 minutes. The very end of the battle went something like this:

me: "Mia, that's it. I am tired and I am not going to put on a movie for you."

Mia: "Please and thank you mama, please and thank you!"

me: "I know you are asking nicely but you can't watch a movie, you need to go back to sleep."

Mia: "AHHHHHHHHH"

me: "Mia that's enough! Go to sleep!!!!"

Mia: "Cool it mom."

Then she put in a binkie and fell back to sleep. I giggled to myself while shaking my head and fell back to sleep too.

When Cathy and Kylie came into town we spent one morning at the museum and we loved it! Those girls were so fun to watch. I think Mia liked playing on the plane the best. There was so much more to take pictures of, but my camera died. Bummer. Mia had so much fun exploring tunnels, bubbles, shapes, pretend stores and even a stage to perform on. Thanks for a fun day Grandma Busby!

Reverse Psychology

I was having the hardest time taking Mia's picture today. She just kept rolling around on the floor and looking away. Every time I said, "look at the camera" she would look away! Frustrating! So, I decided to use some reverse psychology and I said, "Mia don't look at the camera". And this is what she did:

When someone says "don't look", why is it so hard not to look?

-yes, she still has a binkie

-and yes, she refused to let me do her hair today

Thankfully Tanner was happy and smiling all day while Mia was having her melt downs. Sometimes he just looks at her like, "what the heck is going on?". His head follows her back and forth as she runs around screaming. I keep reminding him (and myself) that it's just a "terrible two" phase.

Today Mia had about 5 serious melt downs. I mean flat out screaming and running around like a mad woman. I didn't know what to do with her. Just when I thought I was going to go insane, she ran up to me and simply said, "I love you mama". I guess it's all worth it when you hear that.

Mama's Boy

This little guy LoVEs his mama, but that's how it should be. I carried this guy for nine months, survived another c-section, woke up with him at all hours of the night and now lug this 22 pound boy around all day. He better love me! Truth is, I love him too!

Case of the "I do it myself"

We have a serious case of the "I do it myself". Mia says "I do it, I do it, I do it" about a million times a day. She has to do EVERYTHING herself. This can really test your patience!!

Here is a typical "I do it myself" day:

- buckle her own shoes

- pour her own juice

- put the lid of her sippie cup on

- put on her diaper straps every single time

- open the door

- close the door

- climb on the bed

- button her pants

- buckle her carseat

- climb in the car

- climb out of the car

- pour in the laundry detergent

- close the dryer/washer door

- turn on the light

- put on her bow

- screw the lid on the milk

-zip her pajamas

-make the bed

This list could go on and on for days. I am just trying to turn this into something positive, like putting her to work doing laundry, dishes or something.

A New Little Hobby

I am really interested in photography. It all started with me being frustrated with my little point and shoot camera. It was so slow and I was constantly missing all the cute faces Mia was making as a baby. So Trenton bought me a nice Canon a couple of years ago and I have been teaching myself how to use it. It is a work in progress, but I really enjoy it.

I was eating Lucky Charms yesterday morning and she was sweetly asking to take all of my marshmallows. Normally I would be a little annoyed at someone trying to take the best part of my cereal, but it didn't bother me too terribly bad. As you can see Mia was creatively naming of the shapes as they came out of my bowl. The diaper gave me a good laugh.

We had a blast at Disneyland! I was a little worried taking a 2 year old and a 7 month old, but they were so good. They loved it! Tanner couldn't take his eyes off of all the fun things to see. He did not make a peep the entire day. And Mia was loving all the rides, especially Dumbo and the Tea Cups. She went on Dumbo four times and she kept saying, "again". They both fell asleep in the afternoon and we just cruised around the park checking everything out. Trenton hadn't been there for awhile so we went around to all of the different areas of the park. There were hardly any lines so Trent was able to ride Indiana Jones while we waited. We were able to go on a lot of rides together too. I was really surprised that I could take Tanner on pretty much every ride that Mia could go on. It worked out great! We only had one melt down from Mia about being on the wrong color of tea cup, but other than that we had a pretty amazing day!

They love each other so much. They hug and kiss all the time. I love how Mia makes Tanner laugh just by smiling at him. I love how Mia just smiles and laughs when Tanner pulls her hair. She says in the most excited and sweetest voice, "Tanner is pulling my hair". As Jim and Pam would say... I am taking a mental picture of this.

Sick of being SICK!!!

This fall/winter our little family has been way too sick way too many times. So far between the four of us we have had:
- about 12 colds
-3 ear infections
- tonsillitis
- croup
- 1 trip to the emergency room
- 2 trips to UMC quick care

I hope that we will all be healthy again soon. I guess it could be worse... but it is frustrating!

Tanner has now been officially introduced to food. He is still not so sure about it, but he is eating well. I mean, look at the boy... do you doubt that he loves food? This kid is a tank!

You know that old saying, "don't shoot the messenger"? I think it's a stupid saying. Frankly I believe that sometimes the messenger deserves to be shot. What? You don't agree? Hear me out for 30 seconds. Sometimes the messenger says things that should be kept to themselves. For instance, let's take a woman who wears those little peep toe bootie looking boots to a party. Some might think, "hey, those are some cute boots, way to pull off that trend". And some might think, and actually say to someone else at the party, "I think those boots are hideous". Now if that person who hears this rude piece of information goes to that brave girl who wore those bootie boots and tells her this, I believe in this case the messenger should be shot. What good does that comment bring to anyone? To the trendsetter? To the critical onlooker? Nothing. Now, this doesn't mean I think it's okay to talk behind peoples backs... heavens no. But I do think that some things are just left better unsaid. So, before delivering a message you should think to yourself... "should I be shot for this?".

Busby Baby Update

Mia is a ball full of energy and is constantly on the go. Between puzzles, coloring, reading and playing with her toys we are busy! We are working on the whole entertaining herself thing. She loves to ride in her stroller around the neighborhood now. Hopefully it cools down soon for my sake. Her favorite movie is a toss up between Dumbo and Finding Nemo. Her favorite book this week is Goodnight Moon. She loves to find the red balloon and the little mouse. She is talking all the time and copying everything we say. One of my favorite things she says is "later" when she is saying good-bye. I also love the way she says Tanner-"Tunner".

Tanner is growing up so fast! Thankfully he has been a great baby. I am knocking on wood as I write this, but he hardly ever cries and is very peaceful. He still has all his dark hair and it looks like he is going to have blue eyes (how I ended up with two children with blue eyes is beyond me). He is holding his head up really well and he is getting really strong. He makes these little sounds that I am pretty much in love with. He is starting to smile too. Mia still loves to take care of him and wrap him up in blankets and give him "kesses" as she would call them. She also loves for him to lay on her belly. She LOVES it! I have got to take a picture of it...priceless. She laughs and giggles while he so calmly rests on her belly. Having two children so young and so close in age is definitely difficult and time consuming, but I sure do love them.

Mia LOVES to organize just about anything... crayons, troll dolls, magnets, stickers, whatever! Today she decided to organize the baby changing table. That kept her busy for a good 30 minutes!

Meanwhile, Tanner slept without a care in the world...
And I was able to do laundry... it scares me how easy I am to please now.

I love the pretending to be asleep face!

So many people have asked me how Mia is reacting to a new baby in the house. I really thought that she would be taking it a lot harder than she is. She still absolutely adores him! No jealousy at all. The only bad part is that she smothers him! She wants to hold him, kiss him, sit on him, feed him food, put stickers on him, wrap him in blankets and all sorts of big sister kind of things. It's a little overwhelming at times... I can't take my eyes off of her or she will do some serious damage to the little guy. I just don't think she understands that you can't feed a baby bread or lay on them while he is in the swing, or throw balls at them. Yes, she did all of those things. Life is much more complicated with two children, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I am not sure how I am ever going to leave the house by myself, but life is SWEET!

He came into this world weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. I love his dark dark hair.

Still on the operating table, but I was so happy to finally see him! I was quite anxious, but the c-section went great.

For Mia it was LOVE at first sight.

She kissed him, hugged him and sang to him. Mia would not let him go. She even got upset when Trenton and I tried to hold him. She told me "Share Mama, share!".

Our first family photo. Everything was going well, until the nurses heard some grunting from our little guy and they promptly swept him away to check him out. We thought he would just be gone for a few hours at the most, but we were WRONG! He had to go to the NICU and his doctor came in to tell us that he would have to be there for at least 48 hours!! We were so sad and worried about him.

All I can say is SAD! No one wants to see their baby like this! He was hooked up to an IV, breathing tube, and all sorts of monitors. We couldn't even see him for hours. Trenton was able to visit him and finally at midnight I was able to hobble into the NICU to see him. After lots of tests and 24 hours in the NICU they allowed him to be released into a special care room where a nurse watched him 24-7. I guess he had a lot of fluid in his lungs and they were worried he had an infection or something like that. They really wouldn't tell us much. Luckily they let me start feeding him the next day, but it was not easy after a c-section to walk to that room every couple of hours. Trenton took such good care of him and sat with him for hours. He is an amazing dad and husband.

And apparently I was a fall risk... ha ha!

Finally on Sunday Tanner was released and we were able to go home!

He has been such a great baby and we are so happy to be home! Trenton is taking great care of Mia, Tanner and me. I don't know what I would do without him!

Well, tomorrow is the day. It's finally here!! I am going in for a c-section early in the morning and should have a little baby boy by 8:00 am. I will be out for at least a couple of days in the hospital, but hopefully will be able to post some pictures soon!

Our little boy is almost here! And I am just about ready to pop! Luckily I have been able to take it easy these past couple of days. I am so tired and my belly has no where else to go but straight out (which makes life slightly wobbly). Since I have had to slow down a bit, Mia and I have been spending lots of quality time together before her little brother comes into this world. We play in her tent, color, play with her little baby dolls and always watch one of her favorite movies. We still have not chosen a name for our little guy, but don't worry we won't leave the hospital without one.

Yes, it's June, and yes she is wearing mittens. She loves them... and insisted on wearing them with her white summer dress. One thing I have learned from my little Mia is that you can't stop a diva.

These pictures are from my grandma's surprise birthday party. I just had to show the awesome lanterns that we hung every where in the house. I think there were about 70 of them! It really adds so much to the party atmosphere. It's a really great way to decorate for a fun event. Britni found them at www.pearlriver.com. We also had Cameron and Lauren's wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. I wish I had taken pictures!! At their reception they had these white tents and chandeliers hanging.... it was perfect! And Lauren looked beautiful. Congratulations!!! I love that I have so many sisters now!

Our busy weekend was very fun, but now my feet are very swollen. I hate swollen feet! I will be happy to see my ankles again!

This just about sums up the life of my ever growing belly. And yes, Mia plays slide with her little dolls and toys down my belly. She thinks it is quite fun. I must say that despite the uncomfortable nature of a large belly, it is a miracle and I love laying down at night feeling the little guy kick and roll around in there.

When ever Mia falls outside she hates that it gets her hands dirty. She just yells "dirty, dirty, DIRTY!" until I come and help her wipe her hands off. But now I taught her how to brush her hands together and brush the dirt off. She loves to wipe her hands now. Funny girl. I love how she gets a kick out of the little things in life.

Consignment Event Review

So I checked out the baby Consignment Event. It was ok. I expected it to have a whole lot more than it did. Maybe it all got wiped out on the first day, but today it wasn't anything amazing. Bummer. I had to check it out though. But I did have a little bit of success... we bought a double stroller that I will desperately need in like two months. It is basically in perfect condition. It is spotless, amazingly clean, rides really nice and is easy to turn. It had all the features that I was looking for too: cup holders for both kids, two sunshades, fits a car seat, big basket on the bottom, and nice handles for steering. The best part is that it was only $100. So the trip was worth it for me!
